About the client: One of the Largest Retail departmental stores in India with 83 outlets across 38 cities in India. They sell clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, jewellery, fragrances, cosmetics, health and beauty products, home furnishing and decor products.
Business Challenges: Shoppers Stop was experiencing growth in data volumes at a rapid rate, owing to it increased outlets, growing loyalty base, traction in Click and Collect services and growth in Omni channel sales via shopperstop.com and amazon.in. SSL wanted to deliver near real-time reporting of their Retail business to the management. However the Core Retail application built on legacy platforms couldn’t cater to this requirement. EOD Batch took 4 to 6 hours. Reports delivered late impacting decision making process.
Solution: Data from Core POS applications running on AS/400 was replicated in real-time using IBM’s CDC technology to a Netezza Data Warehouse.
